The suspect who shot and killed a couple of Democratic state lawmakers in Minnesota has been apprehended after fleeing. Reuters reported on the 15th (local time) citing a social media post on 'X' from an ABC News affiliate.
According to Minnesota authorities, the suspect, Vance Bolter, 57, impersonated police to enter the home of State Senator John Hoffman around 2 a.m. the previous day and shot the Hoffmans, injuring them.
About one and a half hours later, around 3:35 a.m., Bolter appeared at the home of State Representative Melissa Holtman and her husband, engaged in a shootout with the police, during which Holtman and her husband were shot and killed.
Local police are investigating the possibility that Bolter committed the crimes for political motives. All the victim lawmakers are reported to be affiliated with the Democratic party.
Authorities launched a massive search operation, offering a reward of $50,000 for the suspect's capture, and ultimately apprehended Bolter late that afternoon.
