Protests against the crackdown on illegal immigrants are spreading across the United States, while President Donald Trump directed immigration authorities to strengthen enforcement without regard for this.
According to the Associated Press, President Trump stated on the 15th (local time) through his social media platform "Truth Social" that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) received orders to spare no effort in aiming for the largest mass deportation in history.
He emphasized that efforts to detain and deport illegal foreign residents should be strengthened in major cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, where millions of illegal immigrants reside.
President Trump referred to these major cities as "the center of the Democratic forces" and claimed that "the Democrats are expanding their voter base through illegal immigrants, committing election fraud, and building a welfare state that robs American citizens of good jobs and benefits."
He added that "brave men and women of ICE are suffering daily from violence, harassment, and threats by radical Democratic politicians," but asserted that "nothing can prevent them from carrying out their duties and their responsibility to the American people."
These remarks by President Trump came shortly after a massive "No Kings" protest held in major U.S. cities, including Los Angeles.
This protest, led by progressive organizations, took place simultaneously in over 2,000 locations across all 50 states, with millions participating in marches against the Trump administration and its policies targeting illegal immigrants.
In Philadelphia, about 100,000 people joined the protest; in New York, 50,000; and in Los Angeles, more than 25,000 were reported to have gathered in front of City Hall.
