As Iran retaliates against airstrikes on its nuclear facilities, more than 40 casualties have also been reported in Israel.

U.S. CNN reported on the 13th (local time) that it confirmed deaths from Iran's retaliatory attacks, citing the announcement of Yahiel Leiter, Israel's ambassador to the U.S.

According to the broadcast, one woman was killed and about 40 were injured due to Iran's airstrikes. The deceased woman reportedly was hit by shrapnel in the Ramat Gan area southeast of Tel Aviv, Israel.

Ambassador Leiter told CNN, "A total of 150 ballistic missiles were launched in three waves from Iran," and noted, "I expect Iran to continue its retaliation."

Iran's ballistic missile strikes were prompted by Israel's preemptive attacks targeted at Iran's nuclear facilities, claiming to prevent Iran's development of nuclear weapons.

Earlier, the Israeli military mobilized 200 fighter jets to launch a surprise airstrike on the Natanz nuclear facility in Isfahan, central Iran, as well as key military commanders and nuclear scientists.

Numerous casualties have also been reported in Iran. The Iranian side stated at the UN Security Council meeting that "78, including military officials, have been martyred, and more than 320 have been injured."
