U.S. President Donald Trump is conducting trade negotiations with Korea and Japan and announced on the 11th (local time) that he will present final negotiation proposals to each country in about ten days.

According to Reuters, President Trump said on this day during a meeting with reporters before watching the musical "Les Misérables" at the Kennedy Center, "Trade negotiations are ongoing with about 15 countries, including Korea, Japan, and the European Union (EU)," and added, "I will send a letter containing the request to decide whether to accept the conditions proposed by the U.S. to each country within ten days."

This indicates that he intends to issue an ultimatum to the trading partners currently in negotiations.

Trump said regarding the reciprocal tariff negotiations that are currently under a 90-day suspension until the 9th of next month, "I am willing to extend the deadline for the trade negotiations, but it may not be necessary."

On the same day, Scott Bessent, the Minister of Finance, also made similar remarks during a House Ways and Means Committee meeting.

Minister Bessent stated, "There is a very high possibility of extending the suspension date for reciprocal tariffs for some countries currently negotiating in good faith."

The Trump administration announced in early April that it would impose reciprocal tariffs of 25% on Korea and 24% on Japan. The 90-day suspension period ends on July 9.
