A retired man in Canada is drawing attention after winning the lottery three times in nine months, bringing his total to $2.5 million (about 340 million won).
On the 8th (local time), the local Canadian media Calgary Herald reported that David Serkin, a resident of Lethbridge, Alberta, won the lottery three times from August of last year to May of this year over the span of nine months.
Serkin first won $500,000 (about 70 million won) in Lotto Max on August 20 of last year. Less than three months later, on November 16 of the same year, he won $1 million (about 140 million won) in Lotto 6/49. Then, on May 3 of this year, he won another $1 million in Lotto 6/49 Classic. All of his lottery winnings were from Quick Pick selections.
According to the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC), the odds of winning the Lotto Max jackpot are 1 in 33,294,800, while the odds for the Lotto 6/49 Classic are 1 in 13,983,816. He previously won $250,000 several years ago, so his total winnings amount to $2.75 million (about 370 million won).
