U.S. President Donald Trump said on 6th that the United States and China will hold high-level trade talks in London on the 9th (local time).
President Trump noted this through the social networking service (SNS) Truth Social on that day.
President Trump reported that the U.S. side will include Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, and U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) Jamieson Greer, who plan to discuss the trade agreement with the Chinese delegation.
The trade agreement mentioned by President Trump was derived from the U.S.-China high-level trade discussions held in Geneva on May 10-11. At that time, both countries agreed to significantly reduce tariffs by 115 percentage points over 90 days, and China decided to lift non-tariff measures implemented in response to reciprocal tariffs from the United States.
However, the United States claimed a breach of agreement, stating that China has not lifted export restrictions on key minerals and rare earths, contrary to the agreement made at that time. President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping discussed this issue in a call the previous day and agreed to resume U.S.-China trade negotiations.
President Trump said that "the talks will go very well."
