President Donald Trump is expected to sign an executive order to increase the tariff on foreign steel and aluminum imported into the United States from 25% to 50%.

On the 3rd (local time), White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt noted during a briefing that "the president is expected to sign the executive order today," adding that the tariffs on steel and aluminum will be raised to 50%.

On the 30th, President Trump visited US Steel in the outskirts of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he announced the increase in tariff rates on steel and aluminum products.

Shortly after the speech, he reported on his social media platform, Truth Social, that the effective date for the increased tariff would be June 4.

Since the 12th, President Trump has imposed a 25% tariff on foreign steel and aluminum products based on Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act. If he signs the executive order, the tariff rate is expected to rise to 50% starting from 12:01 a.m. on the 4th, with widespread impacts from exports from various countries to prices in the United States.
