On the 3rd (local time), U.S. Department of Defense Spokesperson Pete Nguyen responded to Yonhap News Agency's written inquiry about reactions to the election of Lee Jae-myung as president, saying, "The United States' commitment to Korea's defense and the Korea-U.S. alliance is steadfast."
However, there has been no official response from U.S. President Donald Trump, the White House, or the State Department.
Earlier, White House Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt, during a briefing, when asked about the South Korean presidential election, searched through documents at the podium but ultimately could not find a response, saying, "I don't have it, but I will get it for you."
