The Israeli military is firing shots at residents rushing to receive aid supplies at the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) food distribution center in the Gaza Strip, leading to casualties daily.
Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that at least 30 people were killed in an attack by the Israeli military near the aid distribution center operated by GHF in the early hours of the 1st (local time). Additionally, Agence France-Presse quoted Gaza rescuers stating that at least 10 people lost their lives.
GHF is a humanitarian aid distribution center established in the Gaza Strip, led by Israel and the United States. This was set up as a separate distribution point due to the ongoing theft of humanitarian supplies by Hamas. The United Nations and the international community have opposed this plan, stating it could weaponize aid, but Israel has continued aid distribution through GHF.
However, chaos ensued at the distribution center as residents attempting to receive aid supplies broke through the barbed wire and looted. Problems arose with the corporation in charge of logistics, leading to delays in the initial distribution, and hungry residents flocked in, causing disturbances everywhere.
In response, the Israeli military fired warning shots to control the situation, and it is reported that casualties continue to occur daily. Israel has not issued an official statement regarding this incident.
