According to Hollywood media Variety on the 29th (local time), the media ratings research firm Nielsen reported that "Squid Game" Season 2 ranked first in the list of 'Top 100 Most Watched TV Series of the 2024-2025 Season.'

This is the result of Nielsen analyzing viewership patterns over 35 days across traditional cable TV broadcast channels and streaming platforms. Although the exact period of the survey was not clearly stated, it marked the conclusion in early April.

The survey indicated that "Squid Game" Season 2 was watched 27.1 million times (based on average counts) over the 35-day period. This series also ranked first with 17.4 million views among the relatively younger demographic aged 18 to 49.

This figure is ahead of the 19 million views recorded by another Netflix drama series, "Adolescence," which placed second. Among the 18 to 49 age group, "Adolescence" ranked second with 9.2 million views, half the amount of "Squid Game" Season 2. Excluding "Squid Game" Season 2, most of the works in the top 100 were English productions from American Hollywood studios or the United Kingdom.

The survey results show that among the top 10 most-watched programs across all age groups, half, or 5 programs, were Netflix originals. Nielsen had previously only aggregated rankings for broadcast works on American cable TV channels but included streaming channels for the first time this time.

Meanwhile, Netflix is set to release the sequel to the "Squid Game" series, "Squid Game 3," on June 27. Season 3 was filmed consecutively with Season 2, which consists of 7 episodes. Previously, Netflix disclosed that the total number of views worldwide for Season 2 in the fourth quarter of last year was 165.7 million.
