Three child actors cast as the main characters in the global bestseller "Harry Potter" TV series have been revealed.
The media and content company Warner Bros. Discovery, which is producing the series, noted on the 27th (local time) that "HBO Original 'Harry Potter' TV series has cast newcomer Dominic MacLoughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stute as Ron Weasley."
Co-producers Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod said, "We are thrilled to find our Harry, Hermione, and Ron," adding, "The talents of these three special actors are truly remarkable, and the world will witness the magic they will bring to the screen."
According to Hollywood media Variety, the selected actors this time are mostly newcomers who have hardly appeared in significant works before. MacLoughlin has been involved in the Sky channel's new comedy 'Grow,' while Stanton played the role of Matilda in 'Matilda: The Musical,' which was performed in the West End from 2023 to last year. Stute is set to take his first lead role in this series.
Variety reported that over 30,000 people auditioned since HBO began open casting last fall. Filming for the series is set to begin this summer, with a release expected next year on HBO's streaming platform.
The Harry Potter series was written by British author J.K. Rowling and has sold over 450 million copies since its first publication in 1997, creating a global sensation. The works have been adapted into films, plays, games, theme parks, and merchandise.
