Pop star Britney Spears (43) posted a message online criticizing a flight attendant after receiving a warning from authorities for smoking on board.
According to American media such as People magazine on the 25th (local time), Spears was subject to a preliminary investigation by authorities for allegedly violating federal aviation regulations by smoking on a private jet returning from Mexico to Los Angeles (LA) on the 22nd. Authorities issued a warning to Spears upon her arrival at the airport.
However, a day later, Spears posted a message on her social media (SNS) Instagram page explaining the incident from her perspective, along with a short video of her laughing while holding a bottle of alcohol on the plane.
Spears wrote, "I was really funny yesterday! Most of the planes I’ve been on don’t allow smoking, but this one was different."
She added, "I confess that I drank vodka for the first time and really felt smarter. And I said that I wanted to smoke so badly! My friend put it in my mouth and lit it. So I thought this was a plane where you could smoke."
Spears said, "I apologize to anyone I harmed," while also noting, "The flight attendant contacted authorities to say I was smoking! And she made me extremely embarrassed. She didn’t like me from the moment I got on the plane."
JSX, the operator of the private jet, did not respond to requests for comment regarding the Spears incident. It was reported that this is not the first time Spears received a warning from authorities due to in-flight disturbances.
