Claims have emerged that legendary British rock band Queen's vocalist Freddie Mercury had a secret daughter.
According to local media including The Guardian on the 24th, author Leslie Ann Jones recently claimed that Mercury fathered a daughter during an affair with a friend's wife in 1976. Jones is the author of the biography 'Freddie Mercury' (Freddie Mercury: The Definitive Biography), which served as the basis for the film 'Bohemian Rhapsody.' Jones noted that about three years ago, she met a woman who claims to be Mercury's daughter. This woman is said to work as a medical professional in Europe and referred to herself as 'B' without disclosing further details about her identity.
According to Jones, B said, 'Mercury was my father and still is my father,' adding, 'He loved me and was devoted. The circumstances of my birth might be unusual, but the value of the devotion shown by the father who loved me has not diminished.'
It is said that only Mercury's parents, sister, Queen members, and his partner Mary Austin knew about the daughter's birth. B told Jones that 'Mercury regularly visited her until he died of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and handed over 17 volumes of his personally written diary.'
Regarding the decision to disclose Mercury's diary, B said, 'After over 30 years of lies, speculation, and distortion, it’s time for Mercury to speak (for himself),' emphasizing, 'Deciding to reveal my existence in my middle age was solely my decision, and I was not coerced or pressured.'
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Jones stated, 'I instinctively doubted everything, but it was clear that she was not a fantasist,' adding, 'No one could fabricate all of that.'
