The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 20th that a meeting of the Korea-U.S.-Japan Secretariat’s board of directors was held in Washington D.C., U.S., on the 19th (local time) with the U.S. Department of State and the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the 19th, the Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lee Won-woo, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia and Pacific Affairs, Kevin Kim, and the Deputy Director General of the Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Akihiro Okouchi, attend the Korea-U.S.-Japan Secretariat meeting held in Washington, D.C. /Courtesy of Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The meeting was attended by Lee Won-woo, Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' North America Bureau; Kevin Kim, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs; and Okouchi Akihiro, Deputy Director General of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Bureau of Asian and Oceanian Affairs, as representatives from their respective countries.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the three countries discussed the major regional challenges they are facing in common at this meeting and reviewed the specific implementation status of recent Korea-U.S.-Japan cooperation projects.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also noted that they discussed ways to expand the role of the Secretariat to deepen cooperation among the three countries in a more action-oriented and substantive manner.
