U.S. President Donald Trump warned that he would investigate celebrities who supported former Vice President Kamala Harris, who competed against him in the last election. It is alleged that they received large sums of money during the endorsement process.
Trump said in a post on his social media (SNS) on the 19th (local time), “Beyoncé went on stage and received $11 million (about 15.3 billion won) after endorsing Harris without singing a single song,” and added, “She came down from the stage after being booed by the audience.” He further noted, “The Democratic Party and Harris illegally paid her tens of millions of dollars for doing nothing.”
He then stated, “It is not allowed for a candidate to disguise payments for endorsements as performance fees, but Kamala did that,” adding, “This is the highest level of illegal election fraud and illegal campaign contribution. I will request a massive investigation into this matter.”
The individuals Trump pointed out supported former Vice President Harris, who was the Democratic candidate in the election, including singer Bruce Springsteen, who recently criticized him during an overseas performance, as well as Beyoncé, U2's Bono, and broadcaster Oprah Winfrey.
Trump's post comes amid a growing anti-Trump sentiment in the American entertainment industry. Springsteen recently criticized the Trump administration during a performance in the UK, calling it a “corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous government,” and his remarks spread through social media and other platforms. Veteran Hollywood actor Robert De Niro, who campaigned for the Democratic Party, also criticized President Trump at the Cannes Film Festival in France.
