Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Blood and water cannot flow together," adding, "We have only temporarily halted military action against Pakistan."

According to local media such as the Times of India, Prime Minister Modi made this statement during a national address on the 12th (local time). This is his first address following recent clashes with Pakistan in the Kashmir region.

Modi particularly mentioned "water," expressing India's intention to continue measures such as blocking the tributary waters of the Indus River for the first time in 65 years. The Indus River is a lifeline for Pakistan, accounting for 94% of its total water consumption. Additionally, 23% of Pakistan's gross domestic product is linked to the Indus River.

Modi claimed that over 100 Pakistani terrorists were killed in the recent airstrike. He noted, "When our missiles and drones struck terrorist facilities within Pakistan, not only did the enemy's buildings collapse, but their spirit was shattered as well."

Modi stated that this "Sindur operation" will become the "New Normal" in the fight against terrorism, indicating his intention to retaliate with force whenever terrorism occurs.

The conflict between India and Pakistan was triggered by an Islamic militant attack on the 22nd of last month in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 people. India claims that Pakistan is behind the terrorist groups and initiated airstrikes.

Pakistan also conducted retaliatory strikes against Indian missile storage facilities and air bases. While the United States intervened, both countries initially agreed to a ceasefire; however, intermittent clashes continue.
