Amid the 4th nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States, Iran is maintaining its position that it will uphold its "nuclear rights."
Reuters, citing local media, reported that Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian Foreign Minister, stated this at the "4th Arab-Iranian Dialogue Conference" held in Doha, Qatar, on the 9th (local time).
Minister Araghchi said, “If the goal of the negotiations is to deprive Iran of its nuclear rights, then Iran will not give up any rights.”
He added, “I have made it clear in discussions with the United States that Iran has the right to peaceful use of nuclear energy and does not seek nuclear weapons. Iran is negotiating in good faith, and if the goal of such discussions is to guarantee non-acquisition of nuclear weapons, then an agreement is possible.”
However, he emphasized, “If the goal is to limit Iran's nuclear rights, then Iran will never give up its rights.”
The United States is negotiating with the aim of having Iran completely abandon its nuclear program. Uranium enrichment cannot be allowed even for civilian purposes. However, Iran maintains that there is no room for negotiation regarding its right to enrich uranium. It has also dismissed the U.S. demands to halt enrichment and eliminate its program.
Steve Witkoff, the Middle East advisor for President Trump, also said in an interview with Breitbart the previous day, “There can absolutely be no enrichment program in Iran,” meaning that the three enrichment facilities within Iran must be dismantled.
The United States and Iran will conduct the 4th nuclear negotiations in Oman on the 11th.
