U.S. President Donald Trump announced on the 10th (local time) that he would expand trade with India and Pakistan.

On that day, President Trump stated on the social media service Truth Social, "Although it has not been discussed, I will significantly increase trade with both countries."

He continued to commend the two countries, which had recently agreed to a ceasefire, noting, "I am proud of the strong and resolute leadership of India and Pakistan," and called it "a decision to prevent countless deaths and destruction."

Trump also emphasized the role of the U.S. by stating, "I am proud that the United States helped facilitate this historic and heroic decision."

In particular, he added that he would work with both sides to solve the Kashmir issue "for the first time in a thousand years." This indicates a willingness to intervene in the resolution of territorial disputes going forward.

Trump's remarks came at a time when he had not achieved success in the conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza. Therefore, experts interpreted his comments as an intention to highlight the India-Pakistan ceasefire as a diplomatic achievement.

Previously, India and Pakistan had agreed to a sudden ceasefire just three days after escalating clashes. The U.S. engaged in behind-the-scenes diplomacy as Secretary of State Marco Rubio contacted the leaders of both countries.
