Pope Leo XIV, the 267th pope, urged an end to conflicts and wars around the world.

On the 11th (local time), the Associated Press (AP), Reuters, and others reported that Pope Leo XIV said in St. Peter's Square at the Vatican, "No more wars should take place."

Pope Leo XIV noted that World War II ended 80 years ago, and the current conflicts happening worldwide seem to resemble a third World War. He also mentioned the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, urging for an end to the conflicts. Regarding the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, he expressed a welcoming stance.

Pope Leo XIV was elected as the successor to Pope Francis on the 8th. His enthronement mass is scheduled for the 18th.
