Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on the 8th (local time), expressing that China and Russia must respond together to unilateralism and bullying. This expression is often used by China when criticizing the United States.
According to state-run China Central Television (CCTV) and Reuters, President Xi stated during the meeting with President Putin held at the Kremlin in Moscow that "currently, facing acts of coercive bullying that contradict international unilateralism and trends, China, along with Russia, bears a special responsibility as major powers and permanent members of the United Nations Security Council."
President Xi said, "We must jointly promote the correct perspective on the Second World War, uphold the authority and status of the United Nations, and firmly safeguard the rights and interests of both China and Russia as well as numerous developing countries," adding that "we should promote a multipolar world that is equal and orderly, and pursue universally beneficial economic globalization hand in hand."
He continued, saying, "The continuous development and deepening of Sino-Russian relations is both an inevitable choice for the two countries to achieve mutual benefits and promote each other’s development, as well as a timely appeal to maintain international fairness and justice while pushing for reform of the global governance system."
President Xi emphasized the need to expand cooperation between China and Russia in various fields, including the economy.
He stated, "Both countries must maintain the overall direction of cooperation, exclude external interference, further solidify the foundation of cooperation's stability, and ensure that progress is more substantial."
He added, "We should leverage the complementary advantages of the two countries' resources and industrial systems to expand high-quality mutually beneficial cooperation in areas such as economic trade, energy, agriculture, aerospace, and artificial intelligence (AI)."
