Russian President Vladimir Putin said on the 4th (local time) that there is currently no need to attack Ukraine with nuclear weapons and hopes that there will not be such a need in the future.
According to Reuters, President Putin answered during an interview with Russian state television, in response to a question from the host, that "they provoked us and tried to pull us into a mistake."
Furthermore, President Putin stated, "We have enough capability and resources to derive the logical outcomes that Russia desires." When asked about the possibility of reconciliation with Ukrainians, he remarked, "Despite the tragedy we are experiencing, this is inevitable," adding, "This is a matter of time."
Russia declared a "special military operation" and invaded Ukraine in February 2022. U.S. President Donald Trump, who took office in January this year, is mediating an end to the war between the two countries, but there is still no narrowing of differences.
Recently, President Putin unilaterally declared a ceasefire for three days, from the 8th to the 10th, coinciding with the Victory Day of World War II (May 9), but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky rejected this.
