Regarding the deployment of North Korean troops to the Ukraine war, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed gratitude to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on the 28th (local time).

Earlier, on the 26th, Russia officially acknowledged for the first time the deployment of North Korean troops to the Ukrainian front. North Korean troops are said to have been dispatched to the Russian Kursk front around October of last year, but Russia had previously not stated any position on the deployment.

North Korea also officially acknowledged the fact of the Russian deployment on that morning. The (North) Korean Workers Party Central Military Commission stated, "According to the command of the head of state, the North Korean troops participated in the Kursk region," and noted, "This action is fully consistent with the provisions and spirit of the treaty on comprehensive strategic partnership between North Korea and Russia."
