On the 28th (local time), IBM announced that it plans to invest a total of $150 billion (about 216 trillion won) in the United States over the next five years.
Arvind Krishna, IBM's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), noted in a statement that "we have focused on American jobs and manufacturing since our founding 114 years ago."
IBM's announcement of its investment plans in the United States on this day is interpreted in the context of major corporations expanding large-scale investments in the U.S. since the launch of the Donald Trump administration.
Earlier, Apple announced in February that it would invest a total of $500 billion (about 720 trillion won) over the next four years. Additionally, Oracle, SoftBank, and OpenAI announced that they would establish a joint venture with a total expenditure of $500 billion.
CEO Krishna said, "This investment and manufacturing commitment will ensure that IBM remains the center of the world's most advanced computing and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities."
