Russian President Vladimir Putin declared a ceasefire on May 8-10, coinciding with the holiday commemorating the victory in World War II (Victory Day) on the 28th (local time).

The Kremlin stated in a Telegram announcement that "based on humanitarian considerations, Russia will declare a ceasefire during the 80th anniversary of victory," following the decision of Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Putin.

The ceasefire will last from midnight on the 8th to midnight on the 10th.

The Kremlin noted that "all military actions are prohibited during this period," adding that "Ukraine must follow this example, and if the Ukrainian side violates the ceasefire, the Russian military will respond appropriately and effectively."

Earlier, on the 19th, during the Easter period, President Putin had also announced a temporary ceasefire for 30 hours. However, during this period, Russia and Ukraine accused each other of violating the ceasefire and launching attacks.
