On the night of the 23rd (local time), a large-scale airstrike by Russia reportedly involved North Korean ballistic missiles, according to a report by Reuters on the 24th.
Ukrainian military sources told Reuters on the same day that North Korean KN-23 ballistic missiles were used in the airstrike, and at least 8 people were killed by these missiles. The sources added that a residential building in the Svyatoshyn district, west of central Kyiv, was hit by a missile strike.
The Ukrainian Interior Minister said that about 10 people are missing at the scene, and some may be buried under the rubble.
The KN-23 ballistic missile, known as the Hwasong-11, is a North Korean short-range ballistic missile that Russia has used multiple times in attacks on Ukraine.
During the night, Russia launched a large-scale combined attack using drones and missiles at various locations, including the Ukrainian capital Kyiv.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that 9 people were killed in Kyiv due to this attack, and over 80 were injured across Ukraine.
Kaja Kallas, the European Union (EU) foreign policy chief, criticized on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "Claiming to seek peace, Russia conducted a deadly airstrike on Kyiv. This is not pursuing peace, but mocking it."
