Pretty Ricky social media (SNS) capture

A debate has erupted over a photo of a large-bodied passenger on an airplane.

According to the Daily Mail on the 22nd, a photo posted by the American hip-hop group "Pretty Ricky" on social media has ignited controversy. The photo captured an overweight passenger struggling to fit into a narrow seat on a flight from Helsinki, Finland, to Copenhagen, Denmark, last year.

"Pretty Ricky" said, "This shows how difficult it is for someone larger than one seat to fly," adding, "The people sitting next to them also suffer." They continued, "Airlines need to provide space for overweight passengers."

The post received over 2,000 comments. Some argued, "If you are large, you should pay for two seats," while others suggested, "Just like baggage, weight should be checked, and if it exceeds the limit, they should have to buy two seats." In fact, some airlines measure passengers' weight and charge fees accordingly.

Voices refuting this have also emerged. American content creator Jalen Chaney pointed out, "The issue arises because the seats are not designed to accommodate various body types from the start." He argued, "Saying one should simply lose weight is not a straightforward solution. The causes of obesity are complex, and a healthy diet can be a luxury for low-income individuals."
