U.S. President Donald Trump sent a conciliatory message regarding the U.S.-China tariff negotiations, to which China stated on the 23rd, "The door to dialogue is wide open."
The spokesperson for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ghua Jakun, answered questions regarding President Trump's remarks related to negotiations with China during a regular briefing that day.
Earlier, President Trump remarked, "We are doing well with China. The 145% tariff rate is very high and will not be maintained that way. However, it will not go to zero (0%)" indicating the possibility of adjusting the tariff rate.
The spokesperson continued, "China's position on the tariff war initiated by the U.S. is very clear," and noted, "We do not want to fight. However, we are not afraid of a fight. If a fight erupts, we will confront it to the end (奉陪到底·봉배도저)."
He added, "If the U.S. genuinely wishes to resolve issues through dialogue and negotiation, it must stop threats and intimidation and engage in discussions with China on the basis of equality, respect, and reciprocity."
