During the 'Easter egg roll' event held at the White House that day, President Trump introduced the fact that he ordered the lowering of flags at federal government buildings as a tribute and respect for the pope.
President Trump said, 'Easter is one of our favorite holidays,' adding, 'We will uplift Jesus Christ very powerfully throughout our whole lives.' He further noted, 'We are restoring religion in America.'
Earlier, President Trump expressed his condolences on the social media platform Truth Social, stating, 'Wishing for the peaceful rest of Pope Francis! May God bless him and all those who loved him.'
