On the same day, Kevin Hassett, the White House economic advisor and Chairperson of the National Economic Council, said in response to a question about Powell's dismissal, "The president and his team will continue to study that matter."
The day before, President Trump met with reporters at the White House and said, "I don't like Chair Powell. I have already made that clear, and if I wanted him out, he would leave immediately."
On the same morning, President Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social that "the dismissal of Chair Powell is urgent," adding, "He should have lowered rates a long time ago, like the European Central Bank (ECB)."
