It was reported on the 17th that the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) rejected North Korea's request for an investigation into the 'Pyongyang drone infiltration incident.'
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and others on that day, the ICAO Council recently decided in a closed meeting to reject North Korea's request for an investigation into the Pyongyang drone infiltration incident.
ICAO, a United Nations (UN) agency, was established to ensure the safety and order of international civil aviation. Both South Korea and North Korea are member states.
Earlier, North Korea claimed last October that South Korea sent drones to scatter leaflets, and requested an investigation from ICAO against the South Korean government early this year.
According to ICAO regulations and practices, the Council must discuss any issue raised by a contracting state (a country that has entered into a treaty). Accordingly, it is reported that the Council, composed of 36 countries including South Korea and China, discussed the matter in a closed meeting and subsequently rejected it.
