On this day, President Trump said in a post on social media platform Truth Social that if China does not withdraw its 34% tariff by the 8th in response to the U.S. reciprocal tariffs, the U.S. will impose an additional tariff of 50% on China, adding, 'It will take effect from the 9th.'

President Trump noted that if China does not accept his demands, all talks requested by China with the U.S. will be canceled, saying, 'Negotiations with other countries that are requesting discussions with the U.S. will begin immediately.'
