Reports have emerged that protests led by the progressive Chin Young opposing U.S. President Donald Trump's governance are taking place across the country.
According to reports, on Saturday, the 5th (local time), the 'Hands Off' protest, meaning 'take your hands off,' crossed over 1,200 instances across the United States. Those opposing President Trump's policies—such as large-scale reductions of federal employees, federal government restructuring and elimination, budget cuts to health programs, large tariffs, and a conciliatory stance towards Russia—took to the streets. This occurred just over two months after the launch of Trump's second term.
Around the Washington Monument, a symbol of Washington D.C., chants against President Trump and his closest aide, Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk, who is leading the federal government restructuring, echoed. Participants clapped to the beat of drums and shouted slogans such as 'Trump and Musk must go.' Various banners and propaganda tools they held displayed messages like 'no kings,' 'the administration cannot make laws,' and 'this is a question of right and wrong, not left or right.'
On this day, protests against the Trump administration were held in major European cities such as London, United Kingdom, Paris, France, and Berlin, Germany. According to the Guardian, hundreds of citizens gathered at Trafalgar Square in London that afternoon, holding signs with slogans like 'Dump Trump.' At Place de la République in Paris, dozens of primarily American nationals gathered to protest against President Trump's imposition of tariffs and cuts to public budgets.
