On the 2nd (local time), President Trump posted on social media platform Truth Social the words "American liberation day." He also shared comments made by Administrator Kelly Loeffler during a guest appearance on Fox News, saying, "Today is a joyful day and a day of liberation."

Administrator Loeffler described the reciprocal tariffs as "a great salvation for not only American enterprises but the entire United States." She noted, "America was on an unsustainable path," and added, "Trump is the only president who has said to both allies and adversaries, 'We must level the playing field.'"

That day, the White House stated, "President Trump will announce policies for fair competition for American corporations and workers," adding, "America will see fair trade for the first time in decades."

The White House asserted that the tariff policy during the Trump administration studied its impact on the U.S. economy, claiming, "Tariffs strengthened the U.S. economy and led to a significant resumption of production in industries like manufacturing and steel production."

President Trump is scheduled to announce the reciprocal tariffs at 4 p.m. that day, which will be 5 a.m. on the 3rd in Korea.
