A gas pipeline explosion near Kuala Lumpur, the largest city in Malaysia, injured at least 112 people.

According to Reuters and other sources, around 8:10 a.m. local time on the 1st, a massive blaze erupted near a gas station in the Putra Heights area of Selangor province, on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur. The flames soared as high as 20 stories, and about 60 people are hospitalized. No fatalities have been reported. Hundreds of nearby dwellings were damaged.

The fire is believed to have originated from a gas pipeline around the gas station. Local fire authorities cut off the gas supply and extinguished the fire around 3:45 p.m. The Selangor authorities noted, "The fire is presumed to have been caused by the gas pipeline explosion. We evacuated 305 residents."
