According to Reuters, when asked during an executive order signing event held in the Oval Office about when the details concerning reciprocal tariff rates for various countries would be announced, Trump said this.

Trump continued, "Tariffs are reciprocal. We will levy tariffs as much as they impose on us, but we will be kinder than them," adding that "the tariff rates will be lower than what they impose on us. In some cases, it may be significantly lower. It will be relatively very nice."

Regarding the impending deadline for the sale of TikTok's U.S. operations, which expires on the 5th of next month, he said, "If I want to, I can extend the expiration date," noting that "TikTok is not directly related to the reciprocal tariffs, but there is a possibility it could be in the future."
