On the 29th, the second day after a strong earthquake in Myanmar, the number of fatalities due to the earthquake surged to around 1,600.

A magnitude 7.7 earthquake occurred on Nov. 28 in central Myanmar, causing widespread damage across the country, including in Mandalay, Myanmar's second-largest city, which is near the epicenter. According to the Agence France-Presse, the Myanmar military regime stated in a report that afternoon that the death toll related to the earthquake has increased to 1,644 and the number of injuries has risen to 3,408.

The death toll has ballooned more than eleven times from the 144 reported by Min Aung Hlaing, the head of the military regime, the previous day.

Compared to the figures reported that morning, the casualties have increased significantly.

With bodies continuously being discovered under collapsed buildings and aftershocks continuing, the number of casualties is rapidly rising.

Myanmar has numerous regions beyond government control due to civil wars, and the earthquake has also disrupted communication networks, making it difficult to assess the extent of the damage.

Earlier, at around 12:50 p.m. the previous day, a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck a location 33 kilometers southwest of Mandalay, Myanmar's second-largest city, causing significant damage.
