The humanoid robot that drew attention with its 'battle dance' has been captured attacking a human.
According to the Hong Kong South China Morning Post, the humanoid robot that appeared in a special Lunar New Year broadcast by Chinese state media charged at the audience watching the festival held in Tianjin on the 6th.
The production company stated that it was 'an incident caused by a program setting or sensor error.'
In the video, the humanoid robot dressed in traditional Chinese attire briefly paused before suddenly charging at the spectators. Fortunately, security personnel present on site immediately controlled the robot, and it is reported that no one was injured.
This robot weighs 47 kg and stands 180 cm tall; it is the humanoid 'H1' produced by the Chinese robotics corporations Unitree Robotics. It can perform complex movements, such as throwing and catching a handkerchief by mimicking human movements.
The robot also performed a battle dance with human dancers in a special Lunar New Year broadcast by China Central Television (CCTV) at the end of January.
Following the release of the robot's video, social media reactions varied. Netizens expressed concerns such as, 'It's only a matter of time before AI retaliates,' 'That robot has rabies from AI,' 'A glimpse of the future in 10 years,' and 'It feels like a sci-fi horror movie.'
In contrast, some argue that 'the robot was trying to regain balance to avoid falling over after getting caught on the barricade,' and that it appears to be more of an arm swing due to a stumble rather than aggressive behavior, suggesting it was simply a mechanical malfunction.
