Renault Korea's mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUV) 'Grand Koleos' is changing the standard for SUVs with its spacious interior, various convenience features, and high safety.
The Grand Koleos is marketed as a 'family-oriented SUV.' With a wheelbase of 2,820 mm, it provides the most generous interior space among its mid-size SUV peers. Features such as the segment's largest knee space and a three-zone independent air conditioning system are attracting attention from family-oriented customers.
The Grand Koleos is also a 'connected SUV.' The 'OpenR' panoramic screen consists of three large 12.3-inch displays that extend from the center fascia (the central control unit between the driver and passenger seats) to the passenger side. This design is said to enhance immersion. Online video services (OTT), music, streaming, web browsing, navigation, and voice recognition can all be used on a single platform. Renault Korea noted that this is especially a highly satisfying feature for families using the vehicle with elementary school children.
Renault's hybrid technology is also concentrated in the Grand Koleos. It features a system output of 245 horsepower and a combined fuel efficiency of 15.7 km per liter. It can cover up to 75% of urban driving in electric mode, providing a quiet and flexible driving experience.
It also has the essence of safety inherent in an SUV. The Grand Koleos received a first-class rating in the 'Car Safety Assessment (KNCAP).' An advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) at level 2 of autonomous driving, which maintains a safe distance from the vehicle ahead and controls speed and direction without driver intervention, is equipped in all trims. It is explained that crash safety is ensured by 'hot press forming' (HPF) steel plates and ultra-high-strength steel called giga steel. The structure's dedicated QR system 'CureSQ,' applied for the first time in Korea, can reduce rescue time by up to 15 minutes in the event of an accident.
