Hyundai Rotem announced on the 17th that it will supply additional automated guided vehicles (AGVs) at Pusan Port, which are key equipment for smart logistics. The port AGV is essential for the automation of port logistics, automatically transporting containers from the pier to the unloading location.
Hyundai Rotem received a letter of intent (LOI) from Dongwon Global Terminal Busan for the supply project of port AGVs at Pusan New Port, Pier 7. A total of 57 port AGVs will be supplied, along with the necessary control systems, chargers, and other ancillary equipment after the main contract is concluded.
In 2023, Hyundai Rotem also secured an order for 43 port AGVs from DGT at Pusan New Port, Pier 7. Last year, it won a project to supply 44 AGVs worth 828 billion won ordered by Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (YGPA).
Hyundai Rotem expects that the AGVs to be delivered this time will have a positive impact on the advancement of logistics at Pusan New Port. Pusan New Port is noted as a representative smart logistics hub in Northeast Asia and a central point for the development of the Arctic shipping route.
A representative from Hyundai Rotem said, "To target the global port logistics automation market, we will concentrate our capabilities on research and development (R&D) to maximize container throughput per hour and further systematize the maintenance sector."
