Volkswagen Group Korea (CEO Till Scheer) installed large shade structures in the Cheonggyecheon area in collaboration with the Volkswagen Group Foundation (hereafter 'our foundation'). A pleasant shaded resting area has been provided in Cheonggyecheon amid the scorching heat.
Volkswagen Group Korea and our foundation are continuing their social contribution initiative 'WE: Share' to live together with the community. To this end, Volkswagen Group Korea and its four brands (Volkswagen, Audi, Lamborghini, Bentley) are jointly raising funds and actively participating in related social contribution activities.
Volkswagen Group Korea and our foundation have been participating in the 'Cheonggye Atti,' an environmental improvement activity in the Cheonggyecheon area by the Seoul Facilities Corporation since last year. This year, they installed shade structures to ensure that citizens using Cheonggyecheon can have a cooler and more enjoyable time amid the heat.
The large shade structures, produced in the cool turquoise color of the group's corporate identity, have been installed along a 50-meter section between the Mojeonggyo and Gwangtonggyo bridges at the starting point of Cheonggyecheon. The shade structures will be in operation until September, and the materials used will be repurposed for upcycled products such as bags or pouches.
Till Scheer, CEO of Volkswagen Group Korea and chairman of the Volkswagen Group Foundation said, "As a neighbor living near Cheonggyecheon and as a citizen who passes through here every day, I hope that the shade structures provide a small respite during the hot summer," and added, "We will continue to carry out various activities as corporate citizens to help the communities we belong to."
