The Ioniq 6 N is a model that embodies Hyundai N's determination to provide enjoyable driving experiences both on the track and in everyday life by developing a high-performance electrified model capable of track driving.
Hyundai Motor Company developed the Ioniq 6 N by gathering expertise gained from motorsports such as WRC and ETCR and innovative electrification technologies validated in the Rolling Lab.
The Ioniq 6 N boasts explosive power performance, capable of accelerating from a complete stop to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds when using the N Launch Control feature, which optimizes performance control based on road conditions. The front and rear motors deliver a combined maximum output of 448kW (609 horsepower) and a maximum torque of 740Nm (75.5kgf·m). When utilizing the N Green Boost for a specified period, the combined maximum output reaches 478kW (650 horsepower) with a maximum torque of 770Nm (78.5kgf·m), delivering even more powerful performance.
To utilize the power performance of the Ioniq 6 N more efficiently, Hyundai Motor Company has applied the 'N Battery' function, which optimally controls battery temperature and output based on driving purpose. The N Battery consists of three modes: Drag for maximum acceleration performance, Sprint for fast track driving, and Endurance for enhancing track driving sustainability, thus providing optimal battery control in various track driving situations.
Based on a sleek sedan ratio, the Ioniq 6 N achieves a better drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.27 and a lower center of gravity compared to the Ioniq 5 N, providing more stable and confidence-inspiring handling performance. To ensure stable control of powerful performance, a large rear wing spoiler is positioned to generate downforce, enhancing high-speed driving stability.
Moreover, the body design considers aerodynamics, securing optimal airflow with features such as active air flaps at the grille, air curtains on both sides of the bumper, a lower front splitter, a rear 3D undercover, and a diffuser with optimized angle and length. The Ioniq 6 N is also equipped with large-diameter 20-inch forged wheels and custom tires developed in collaboration with Pirelli, sized 275/35R20, maximizing both aerodynamics and driving performance.
Additionally, the broad fender design gives the high-performance sedan an assertive and low stance, further highlighted by the exclusive new exterior color 'Performance Blue Pearl,' which reflects a dynamic image depending on the angle of light.
To provide a differentiated driving sensation, next-generation suspension geometry and stroke-sensitive electronic control suspension (ECS) dampers have been incorporated. The suspension geometry of the Ioniq 6 N features a lowered roll center and increased stiffness of the front caster trail and rear springs.
Hyundai Motor Company designed the roll center, which acts as the pivot point when the vehicle turns, to be low, increasing the vehicle's maximum tire grip and securing stability during limit driving.
Furthermore, the Ioniq 6 N increases the caster trail compared to the Ioniq 5 N, enhancing steering wheel returnability and improving straight-line stability. It also adopts high-stiffness springs for optimal control of roll behavior, delivering the predictable and stable high-speed driving sensations pursued by Hyundai N to customers.
Hyundai Motor Company has also tailored various body specifications to ensure high-speed driving stability and everyday driving convenience in the Ioniq 6 N. The stroke-sensitive electronic control suspension dampers use four ride height sensors attached to the front and rear lower arms to finely adjust the damping force of each wheel according to driving mode and road conditions. Alongside this, Hyundai Motor Company has reinforced the body and subframe of the Ioniq 6 N to enhance the direct feel of body behavior based on steering input and secure limit driving performance.
Additionally, fluid-filled 'Hydro G Bushings' applied to the front reduce vibrations, while the rear is equipped with 'Dual Layer Bushings' that reduce road irregularity vibrations and strengthen lateral movement, achieving comfortable ride quality during everyday driving while satisfying the driving performance expected from a high-performance vehicle.
Manfred Harrer, Vice President of Hyundai's Vehicle Development Division, stated, 'The Ioniq 6 N combines powerful power performance, sophisticated battery control, excellent aerodynamics, and advanced suspension systems, setting a new benchmark for automotive engineering that harmonizes high-speed driving, stability, and convenience.'
Hyundai Motor Company has implemented an advanced high-performance electrification specification in the Ioniq 6 N to provide customers with an enjoyable and exhilarating driving experience.
The Ioniq 6 N enriches the driving pleasure in both everyday and track driving through features such as N e-Shift, N Ambient Shift Light, and N Active Sound + (NAS+). The N e-Shift, which finely adjusts the virtual gear ratio, enables seamless acceleration and dynamic driving, while the N Ambient Shift Light illuminates the optimal shifting timing through indirect lighting inside, providing an immersive driving environment.
N Active Sound + applied in the Ioniq 6 N enhances the sound implementation capabilities of the Active Sound Controller (ADP), delivering a three-dimensional sound effect with dedicated channel assignments for each interior speaker. It also provides various new high-performance sound effects, such as the newly added sound 'Lightspeed' and sound effects for using N Green Boost.
The Ioniq 6 N is equipped with track-driving specialized features such as N Drift Optimizer, N Green Boost, N Torque Distribution, N Pedal, regenerative braking, N Track Manager, TPMS custom mode, N Race Cam, and action camera mounting.
N Drift Optimizer allows individual setting of levels for Initiation (regenerative braking amount), Angle (maximum angle range of vehicle drift), and Wheel spin (maximum tire rotation speed), providing thrilling drift experiences tailored to the customer's driving skills.
N Green Boost is a feature that maximizes motor output and responsiveness for up to 10 seconds by pressing the NGB button located at the upper right of the steering wheel. In the Ioniq 6 N, N Green Boost activates automatically when the accelerator pedal is pressed deeply in N Battery Sprint mode (sports/N mode) without needing to press the NGB button, and it deactivates automatically when the pressure on the accelerator pedal is reduced. This helps customers maximize their use of N Green Boost time intuitively through accelerator pedal control when track driving to achieve the fastest lap time.
N Torque Distribution allows customers to set the front and rear power distribution ratio in 11 stages, from maximum front to maximum rear, tailored to their desired driving characteristics, and it is available in all driving modes, including Eco mode, thus enhancing usability.
The N Pedal mode helps adjust the front and rear power distribution ratio appropriately and aids in agile cornering by quickly shifting loads using regenerative braking when the foot is lifted from the acceleration pedal while turning. Especially, the Ioniq 6 N has added electronic LSD control and regenerative braking stability control (RSC) specialized for N Pedal, enabling more linear and predictable vehicle cornering behavior.
Regenerative braking is a feature designed to enhance overall braking performance while reducing the use of conventional brakes, securing braking stability during track driving by optimizing front and rear regenerative braking control and ensuring that regenerative braking operates even during ABS activation.
The N Track Manager, newly applied in the Ioniq 6 N, provides customers with features that allow them to create their own maps, along with a track map provided by the infotainment system, and it provides information such as the average battery consumption of the best lap record and the distance from the current location to the track. Customers can create their own tracks, including newly established circuits or gymkhana courses, and share the created track maps using the export/import function.
Additionally, automatic measurement starts upon entering the track for convenient use, and real-time ghost car visualizations of the driver’s best records, along with corner entry maximum speed, lowest speed during cornering, and lap time reports, provide a more enjoyable track driving experience. The TPMS custom mode helps customers concentrate on track driving by changing air pressure criteria so that a low tire pressure warning does not occur when lowering tire pressure before driving, considering the increase in air pressure due to tire warm-up during track driving.
Hyundai Motor Company has also prepared features considering video recording during track driving for the Ioniq 6 N.
The N Race Cam, newly applied in Hyundai Motor Company, is a track-specific recording mode. It records video captured through a built-in front camera, overlaying driving information such as steering wheel position, vehicle speed, brake and accelerator pedal usage, G-force, track map, and lap time. Additionally, the N Track Manager receives track map information and lap timers, enabling direct viewing of time attack information from the video, allowing for driving analysis without waiting after track driving.
The upper part of the Ioniq 6 N's interior is designed to accommodate an action camera mounting structure, allowing for convenient camera installation.
