KLEANNARA announced on the 10th that it shared the achievements of facilities and operations based on digital transformation (DX) with members of the Korea Paper Association at its factory in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, on the 9th. Choi Hyun-soo, the CEO of KLEANNARA, is serving as the president of the Korea Paper Association.
The event was organized to introduce the manufacturing technology and key achievements based on DX that KLEANNARA has pursued, as well as to explore sustainable growth and digital transformation directions in the paper industry.
Attendees included Han Kyung-rok, CEO of Hansol Paper; Lee Bok-jin, CEO of Taelim Paper; Jeong Dong-ha, CEO of Jeonju Paper; Kwon Yuk-sang, CEO of PAPERCOREA; and Kwon Ji-hye, CEO of Shindaeyang Paper, along with about 80 employees from companies like Moohim Group, Hankuk Paper, Asia Holdings, Daehan Paper, and Kimberly-Clark.
KLEANNARA has actively promoted the introduction of digital technology for process efficiency since 2022. At the event, the operational status of key facilities and the effects of DX applications were introduced, including the ▲ AI-based smart integrated disaster prevention center ▲ automatic moisture measurement devices for paper resources ▲ unmanned transport vehicles (AGV).
The AI-based smart integrated disaster prevention center, introduced by KLEANNARA as the first in the paper industry, utilizes over 660 CCTV cameras, drones, and smart algorithms to detect hazards in real-time within the factory, providing an industrial safety system capable of immediate response through a 3D integrated control platform.
A system has also been established to monitor and respond to air and water quality data in real-time by linking with seven locations of the Tele Monitoring System (TMS) under the Korea Environment Corporation (K-eco). The TMS remotely monitors the discharge status of sewage and wastewater treatment facilities and air emission facilities, helping to prevent water and air pollution accidents and utilizing data as a basis for objective environmental policies. This system has garnered significant interest from member companies, as it addresses both environmental issues and the prevention of major accidents.
Plans were also introduced for the moisture measurement device for waste paper, which has been in operation since 2022, and the unmanned transport vehicle system expected to be introduced in August. In particular, the unmanned transport vehicles are anticipated to contribute to productivity improvements as they fully automate the transportation and loading of finished goods, ensuring safety in operations and enabling 24-hour process operation.
A KLEANNARA official noted, "The Cheongju factory has been introducing digital facilities since 2022 to simultaneously improve productivity, quality, and safety, and we will lead the acceleration of digital transformation in the paper industry and enhance competitiveness by sharing advanced systems and technological leadership with the industry."
