Hyundai Steel announced on the 9th that it has signed a safety and health mutual cooperation agreement with 14 subsidiaries and partner companies to strengthen workplace safety during the hot summer months.
This agreement was made with the goal of realizing a safe management slogan, "Hyundai-Steel One Safety," even in the ongoing heat wave that is breaking high-temperature records.
The signing ceremony took place at the Hyundai Steel Dangjin Steelworks in South Chungcheong Province, attended by President Seokang Sik of Hyundai Steel, Executive Vice President Ko Heung-seok of the Safety, Health, and Environment Division, and Representative Lee Myung-koo of Hyundai ITC, among other officials.
Participating companies in the agreement stated their commitment to ▲a shared sense of responsibility for safety and health and establishing a safety culture ▲actively identifying and improving site hazards and adhering to safety work procedures based on risk assessments ▲compliance with safety rules and practicing fundamental safety order.
President Seokang Hyun noted, "The steel industry involves many high-risk operations, handling heavy materials and substances at high temperatures and pressures," adding, "It is especially important for leaders to take the initiative by inspecting worksites and improving risk factors to prevent heat-related illnesses among employees during the summer."
Immediately after the signing ceremony, an "Industrial Safety and Health Cooperation Meeting" was held, chaired by Executive Vice President Ko Heung-seok. The discussion focused on measures to strengthen safety and health during the heat wave and ways to foster a voluntary safety culture.
Representative Lee Myung-koo expressed, "I expect that this agreement will further strengthen the safety and health cooperative system," and added, "Hyundai Steel will continue to collaborate for disaster prevention and the spread of safety culture going forward."
With this agreement, Hyundai Steel aims to further solidify the safety and health cooperative system with its subsidiaries and partner companies, while also taking solid measures to respond to summer heat and prevent heat-related illnesses among employees.
