Kia unveiled the interior and exterior design of its midsize electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) 'the Kia EV5'.

The EV5 is Kia's fifth dedicated electric vehicle and features a model with a traditional SUV body type that has high customer demand in the midsize segment. Specific specifications will be revealed at the time of launch in the second half of this year.

The exterior design of the EV5 is characterized by a futuristic image unique to electric vehicles and a dynamic silhouette of a traditional SUV. Overall, it has a boxy appearance while emphasizing volume.

The wide and robust skid plate (underside protector) at the front and the bonnet give a strong impression. The side showcases generous rear seat space and trunk space visually through the angular silhouette of the tailgate (trunk) and D-pillar (body rear column).

The interior creates a calm and clean atmosphere. A panoramic wide display integrates a 12.3-inch cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment system display, and a 5-inch climate control display.

A spacious console storage space has been provided in the first row to maximize convenience and practicality. The second row is equipped with a console sliding tray for the comfort of rear seat passengers, and a three-zone climate controller that can independently control heating and cooling functions for the driver's seat, passenger seat, and second row was applied.

A Kia official noted, “The EV5 is a model where electrification technology innovation and practicality harmonize,” adding that “it will offer a more generous driving range with spacious interior typical of an SUV and a 81.4 kilowatt-hour (kWh) capacity NCM battery.”
