The new high-performance electric sedan 'Ioniq 6 N' from Hyundai Motor will be unveiled at the Goodwood Festival in the UK at 8:30 p.m. on the 10th, Korean time. Hyundai Motor released a teaser video for the 'Ioniq 6 N' on YouTube on the 3rd to build excitement.
In the teaser video, the Ioniq 6 N appears as a silhouette racing on the track, emphasizing the dynamism of a high-performance electric vehicle through cinematic direction. The released teaser video features the Ioniq 6 N's low and wide body and a large wing spoiler that embodies motorsport DNA.
The Ioniq 6 N is a vehicle developed based on Hyundai N's three performance philosophies: Corner Rascal, Racetrack Capability, and Everyday Sports Car. It is the second high-performance N electric vehicle from Hyundai Motor, following the Ioniq 5 N.
On the same day as the teaser video release, Hyundai Motor introduced four technologies applied to the Ioniq 6 N: next-generation suspension geometry, N e-Shift, N Active Sound + (NAS+), and N Drift Optimizer.
Hyundai Motor applied the next-generation suspension geometry to the Ioniq 6 N, which lowers the roll center, the pivot point when the body tilts left or right, and increases the caster trail, the distance between the steering axis and the tire contact point. The Ioniq 6 N ensures body stability during high-speed cornering with its low roll center design and enhances straight-line driving performance with an increased caster trail, providing excellent driving capabilities even in situations with repeated high-speed cornering and straight driving.
Hyundai Motor equipped the Ioniq 6 N with a virtual transmission system 'N e-Shift' that applies a tighter gear ratio, allowing the car to respond more nimbly and quickly.
The newly equipped N e-Shift allows for smooth acceleration and dynamic driving in a race car style by finely adjusting the ratio differences between virtual gear levels. Additionally, it introduces the 'N Ambient Shift Light,' which visually indicates optimal shifting timing with ambient lighting, enhancing the driving immersion.
Hyundai Motor enhanced the virtual sound in the 'N Active Sound + (NAS+)' system to enrich the driving experience. N Active Sound + implements natural driving sounds by improving the performance of the Acoustic Design Processor (ADP), providing various sound effects typical of high-performance cars.
Along with this, Hyundai Motor refined the 'N Drift Optimizer,' which assists with smooth drifting, allowing drivers to choose the level of drift assistance in detail. The refined N Drift Optimizer segments the entire drifting process into three categories: Initiation (regenerative braking setting), Angle (maximum slip angle setting), and Wheel spin (permissible tire spinning speed setting), enabling custom tuning for each process.
Park Jun-woo, executive director of Hyundai Motor's N Management Office, noted that 'the Ioniq 6 N was developed with the goal of providing the most immersive driving experience in the era of electrification,' and added, 'It will not only catch attention with numbers but also set a new standard in the electric vehicle market by demonstrating how enjoyable an electric vehicle can offer a driving experience.'
