As expected, it is aggressive. BYD Korea disclosed the price of the new car Seal on the 1st, with the AWD model (BYD SEAL Dynamic AWD) priced at 46.9 million won (after applying the environmentally friendly car tax benefits, excluding electric vehicle subsidies). This is 9.9 million won cheaper than in Japan and Australia. The Seal is BYD's performance mid-size electric sedan.
BYD Korea set the price of the BYD Seal Dynamic AWD approximately 7.9 million won and 9.9 million won lower than in Australia (61,990 Australian dollars) and Japan (6.05 million yen), respectively.
Earlier, BYD Korea announced the expected price range for the BYD Seal at the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show, indicating between 47.5 million won for RWD and 52.5 million won for AWD. (*Based on the exchange rate announced by Hana Bank on June 30)
The BYD Seal, which is the second model to be launched domestically after the Atto 3, showcases sporty design, powerful driving performance, and intelligent high-tech DNA, representing a new value for the BYD brand.
The low body and futuristic coupe-style exterior exude a strong presence, while the D-cut steering wheel, integrated headrest natural Nappa leather seats, and subtle ambient lighting complete a sporty yet luxurious interior space.
In particular, the BYD Seal Dynamic AWD is equipped with dual motors producing 160kW and 230kW at the front and rear, respectively, delivering a maximum output of 390kW (530PS) and demonstrating powerful performance. It can reach 100 km/h from a standstill in just 3.8 seconds, achieving agile and robust acceleration.
Join-cheol Jo, head of the passenger vehicle institutional sector at BYD Korea, said, "BYD has contributed significantly to lowering the price barrier, which is a major hurdle in the spread of electric vehicles, through our first model, the Atto 3," adding, "We hope that with the launch of the BYD Seal, more customers can experience high-performance, high-quality electric sedans at reasonable prices."
Currently, the BYD Seal Dynamic AWD model has completed all certification procedures, with only the environmentally friendly car announcement and electric vehicle subsidy calculation procedures remaining. The Seal RWD model is still undergoing certification. BYD Korea stated that they are doing their best to expedite all administrative procedures to ensure that customer deliveries can occur as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, customer test drives of the BYD Seal Dynamic AWD vehicle will be available nationwide at 17 BYD AUTO showrooms starting July 19.
Additionally, BYD Korea plans to launch three models this year: the small electric SUV Atto 3 (ATTO 3), the mid-size electric sedan Seal (SEAL), and the mid-size SUV Sealion 7 (SEALION 7), providing various electric vehicle experiences for domestic customers and contributing to the establishment of an e-mobility environment.
