On the afternoon of the 27th, T’way Air held a board meeting and appointed Lee Sang-yoon (photo), who is serving as the acting CEO of T’way Air, as the new CEO.
The new CEO, born in 1974, majored in aerospace engineering at the University of Southern California. He has been in the aviation industry for over 20 years, having joined Korean Air in 2003.
During his time at Korean Air, he held various positions, including responsible for aircraft maintenance at the operation inspection and maintenance factory, in charge of maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) business planning, human resources management at the talent development department, head of the management team at the North American headquarters, and head of the policy planning team in the policy support department.
A T’way Air representative noted, "Based on his experience in human resources management, he will make significant contributions as a control tower for the changing organization with stable personnel operation aligned with the corporation's vision and strategic goals," adding, "We expect the maximum efficiency of T’way Air's aviation safety and maintenance operations in the aviation safety area."
Going forward, the new CEO plans to integrate leisure infrastructure such as Daemyung Sonoh Hotel and Resort with T’way Air and focus on creating synergy between the two industries.
The new CEO said, "We will prioritize aviation safety and present differentiated services from existing airlines through synergy between the aviation and leisure industries," and added, "We will continue sustainable growth even in the changing market environment and establish ourselves as a global corporation that achieves new leaps forward."
