On the 25th, the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises announced that it will hold a joint 'Integrated briefing on the implementation of amendments to the Chemical Substances Control Act and the Chemical Registration and Evaluation Act' at the KBIZ Hall in Yeouido.

This briefing was arranged to help small and medium enterprises understand the subordinate regulations, including the procedures for implementation related to the amended 'Act on the Registration and Evaluation of Chemical Substances' and 'Act on the Control of Chemical Substances' from last year. Participants included the Ministry of Environment and affiliated organizations such as the Chemical Safety Agency and the Korea Environment Corporation (K-eco), which enforce and manage the regulations on-site.

In the first part, the Chemical Substance Policy Division of the Ministry of Environment explained the amendments to the subordinate regulations of the Chemical Substance Registration and Evaluation Act regarding the reorganization of the reporting substance management system. The Korea Environment Corporation showcased its newly built reporting system in line with the amendments.

In the second part, the Chemical Safety Division of the Ministry of Environment and the Chemical Safety Agency provided information on key amendments to the subordinate regulations of the Chemical Control Act, including 'business notifications,' along with a revision plan for handling facility notifications and improvements related to regulatory quantities. A Q&A session regarding the periodic inspection system was also held.

Additionally, the Korea Environment Corporation will introduce various support projects to assist small and medium enterprises in complying with the Chemical Registration and Evaluation Act and the Chemical Control Act. One-on-one field consultations will also be conducted.

Yang Chan-hoe, head of the Innovation Growth Division at KBIZ, noted, 'As we felt the need for a pre-communication opportunity between the small and medium enterprise sector and the Ministry of Environment ahead of the implementation of the revised law in August this year, we decided to jointly hold the integrated briefing.' He added, 'We will continue to collaborate with the Ministry of Environment even after the briefing to ensure that small and medium enterprises from various industries can respond well to the subordinate regulations.'
