She was nominated the first Minister of the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Startups under Lee Jae-myung’s government the previous day and is regarded as a first-generation expert in the information technology (IT) sector who led the growth of Korea’s largest portal, Naver. Candidate Han is expected to drive digital innovation growth for small businesses and startups, including the AX (AI transformation), as the Minister.
Candidate Han noted, “I feel a heavy sense of responsibility being nominated as the Minister at such a critical time,” and said, “First, I will faithfully engage in the confirmation hearing process.”
Candidate Han emphasized, “Small and medium enterprises and small merchants are the backbone of our economy,” and stated, “I will pour my capabilities and experience into ensuring that small and medium enterprises achieve global competitiveness and lead innovative growth.” He added, “I will do my utmost to solidify the foundation of neighborhood commercial districts, small merchants, and traditional markets.”
