Hanwha Ocean held a 'Korean Safety Golden Bell' competition at its Geoje plant, involving foreign employees.

On the 19th, Hanwha Ocean announced on the 20th that 200 foreign employees competed in the finals of the 'Global Ocean! Korean Safety Golden Bell' held at the Geoje plant. Among approximately 4,000 foreign employees working at Hanwha Ocean, 200 advanced to the finals.

The company explained that the event was organized to prevent safety accidents for foreign employees, enhance safety awareness, and improve Korean communication skills.

The finals consisted of a Round 1 OX quiz, Round 2 multiple choice, and Round 3 short-answer questions. Participants competed in quizzes on major safety regulations in the shipbuilding industry, traffic issues within the company, and topics related to safety and health activities, as well as Korean culture and common knowledge.

Ramojon (27) from Uzbekistan rang the golden bell. Ramojon received a prize worth 1 million won and the Safety Leader Award. Two second-place winners received prizes worth 500,000 won each, and five third-place winners received prizes worth 300,000 won each.

Hanwha Ocean provides a basic safety guidebook translated into nine languages for the safe shipyard life of foreign employees. It is also producing pictogram safety and health signs to enhance safety awareness.

The golden bell event was attended by Byeon Gwang-yong, mayor of Geoje, Kim In-cheol, director of the Tongyeong branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, Jeon Su-jin, chief of the Geoje Fire Station, Lee Gil-seob, vice president of manufacturing at Hanwha Ocean, and Seo Seung-kwon, chief safety health officer (CSHO) of Hanwha Ocean.
